Regional Development Agencies group

The PCS Regional Development Agencies (RDA) group represents civil servants who work in RDAs throughout the country.

Unlike big government departments, RDAs are relatively small non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) so it is important that the voice of staff in RDAs is heard. RDA map graphic

With this in mind, a group of RDA workplace reps got together at the PCS annual delegate conference a couple of years ago, and formed the RDA co-ordinating committee. The committee has a representative from each of the RDAs.

The committee meets every two months and holds its group conference as part of the PCS annual delegate conference.

Who's who in the RDA group

Lynne Davies is the elected RDA national organiser. For full contact details of the co-ordinating committee and PCS full time officials check out the RDA group contacts directory.

Our goals

The 2007 RDA group conference voted for four main goals, which have been incorporated into the committee's action plan for 2007-2008. Its the aim of these goals to put in place:

(a) a single pay deal across all the Regional Development Agencies in England

(b) a "Tool Kit" for RDA branches that will assist them in challenging the inappropriate use of consultants,

(c) a zero tolerance policy on bullying and harassment in the workplace, and for the RDA co-ordinating committee to produce a guide for branches on how to tackle this problem, and

(d) a national framework agreement that all branches could press upon their respective managements to adopt in relation to restructuring/reshaping. This agreement would include:

  • the requirement for managements to enter into consultation in advance of any restructuring/reshaping in advance in an open and honest manner
  • the need to ensure that every restructuring/reshaping exercise is subjected to an Equality Impact Assessment.

The group's action plan for 2008-2009 will be launched at our group conference.

Get involved

PCS is your union, and we always need people to get involved. Talk to your Branch Secretary and get involved in organising the union in your workplace.

Two members from each RDA are welcome to attend each of the RDA Co-ordinating Committee's meetings.

If you are interested in coming along talk to your workplace rep, Branch Secretary or PCS full time official at the PCS Regional Office. You can find their contact details on the group contacts directory.
