Your conference, your issues

8 May 2008

PCS reps will converge on Brighton this month for the union?s sixth annual delegate conference ? our main policy making arena and the heart of the union?s democratic structures.

From defending public services to pay priorities, green issues to equality topics, conference delegates help to shape PCS’s priorities and future direction on the issues that matter to you.

This year, unsurprisingly, the spotlight is on our breakthrough deal to improve job security and the efforts needed to step up our campaign to defend pay and services – but the hard work doesn’t stop there.

Delegates – elected from every PCS branch – will also consider a wide range of social and economic issues, international concerns and campaigns.

Conference is also the forum responsible for electing the five lay members of the View editorial board and deciding who should represent you at the Trade Union Congress’ many national events and equality conferences.

Whatever the issue, you can be sure that our annual conference will have a view on the best way forward.

General secretary Mark Serwotka said:

“My message to PCS members is to come to conference and see how your union works. You may be surprised at how much is debated and how seriously your views are taken.”
