Conference

As a democratic union, PCS’s policies and priorities are decided at our annual conference.

This is the largest gathering of members’ representatives in the union’s calendar and every branch is entitled to send delegates.PCS conference 2008

Members shaping policy

This means all members of our union have the opportunity to influence our policies by attending branch meetings, suggesting subjects for discussion and submitting motions for debate at conference.

All motions passed then become union policy.

Delegates are also encouraged to attend some of the fringe meetings and social events organised during conference week.

These give members the opportunity to find out more about what we are doing as a union and the kind of campaigns and activities we support. Many members come away having made many new contacts and friends.

This year’s annual conference will be held in Brighton between Wednesday 21 May and Friday 23 May.

Before annual conference begins most groups hold their own conferences over either one or two days, which this year will be Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May.

Both group and annual conferences are a great way for members to get more involved in our union and support is available for delegates attending for the first time.
