We continue to use PSI as the main conduit for education and development.
The aim is to assist the development of public sector unions around the globe, provide support and exchange information on key public sector issues e.g. reform, privatisation.
PCS also supports the TUC’s Aid Fund for major international aid such as the Aian tunami, and Darfur.
Chevening Scholarships are given to (mainly) trade unionists in developing countries to study for a term at Ruskin College.
PCS has sponsored three scholars since 2002 – two from the now exhausted Cyril Plant Fund, and for the third the NEC agreed additional funds to cover one candidate. Tthe budget is held by the organising and learning services department.
Ruskin is now running a one-year full-time MA in International Labour and Trade Union Studies, and seeking sponsorship from unions.
The organising and learning services department are considering sponsorship for a one term course or a one year course, and intend to liaise with the deputy general secretary's office to ensure that the sponsorship and placement would enhance the PCS international strategy and policy.
