Support and related grades section

The Support and related grades section has not functioned for over two years but thanks to the intervention of assistant general secretary Chris Baugh the section is well underway to a full relaunch.

Chris Baugh appointed an officer and an organiser to undertake the work required to re-establish this important section for some of PCS's most vulnerable members.

Over the last year much work has been done by the ex support and related grades officers and an appointed steering group of active support grade members.

The designated jobs considered to be support grades are:

  • Security guards
  • Police community support officers
  • Servants in judges' chambers
  • Post room staff
  • Facilities managers
  • Canteen staff
  • Switchboard operators
  • Drivers
  • Traffic wardens
  • Court ushers
  • Receptionists
  • Reprographics staff
  • Cleaners
  • Messengers
  • Stores and distribution staff
